The pieces … remind one of those limited edition figurines that are commonly advertised in the back of Sunday supplements. They are lovingly hand-painted depictions of staunch burghers and pillars of the community. Birgisson’s work raises questions about identity and purity, but he resists providing us with any ready-made answers.
